Depth before speed
Racing through next year's worksheets is one way to go further. Going deeper is another: the same idea, but harder questions about it, puzzles with no quick method, explaining why something always works.
Depth tends to keep a curious child interested for longer, and it avoids the problem of a child who has done everything and is bored in class.
A good deep question is one you can ask about almost anything: "Does that always work? Can you find one where it doesn't?"
Your child has finished the class work early again. Which is the deeper next step?
A lesson is kept once you've answered the question and written at least 8 words. Nobody grades it; it stays on this device.
