The Reader’s Room
The site’s usual letters are your device’s own, clean and quick. For a long story or a lesson you may prefer a book face. Tick the switch and stories and lessons change to Literata, a typeface designed for reading at length on screens. Games, boards and buttons stay as they are.
Try it on this paragraph. A good book face has letters that differ clearly from one another, an even colour across the line, and enough room inside the round letters that they stay open when they are small. It should also stay comfortable when you make the text larger, which you can do with your browser’s own text size or zoom.
Italics and bold are here too, and the letters for Vietnamese, French, Spanish and most European languages: Bà Tư, café, mañana, Łódź.
Where it comes from
Literata was made for long reading by the type foundry TypeTogether and is shared under the SIL Open Font License. We host the font files on this site, so turning it on does not contact anyone else. The switch is remembered on this device only.
Font licence: SIL Open Font License 1.1.
