Lap rhymes, and the same book again

About it

A bouncing rhyme on your knees, sung at their pace, teaches the beat of language: where the strong sounds fall and where a rhyme lands. KneeTots plays the old lap rhymes this way.

Read the same picture book again, and again. Repetition is how a young child learns the words well enough to say them with you. Leave a gap before a word they know and let them fill it in.

End with something quiet. Ask one small question about the story — "What did the bear find?" — and accept any answer. LapTots gives you one question for each page.

One question

Your child asks for the same book for the tenth night. What do you do?

Say it back
A lesson is kept once you've answered the question and written at least 8 words. Nobody grades it; it stays on this device.
