← A House of Rooms · Lesson 3 of 3
Nothing kept unless both choose
Some of what is said will be worth keeping: a recipe, a name, a story for the grandchildren. But a memory belongs to the person who told it.
At the end, ask together: is there anything you want written down? Keep only what you both choose. Everything else stays a conversation between two people at a table.
With someone very old or unwell, keep visits short, choose the gentlest rooms, and let them lead.
At the end of a visit, what gets written down?
A lesson is kept once you've answered the question and written at least 8 words. Nobody grades it; it stays on this device.
