← A House of Rooms · Lesson 2 of 3
Listen without fixing
Some rooms hold hard things: a loss, a move, a time of hunger. When a sad memory comes up, the job is to listen, not to fix it or cheer it up.
Say back what you heard. Ask a small follow-up, or none. Silence is fine. Either person may say "let's go to another room" at any time, with no reason needed.
Your grandmother remembers leaving her home as a girl, and goes quiet. What do you do?
A lesson is kept once you've answered the question and written at least 8 words. Nobody grades it; it stays on this device.
