The Dinner Timeline
A dinner is planned from its end. Put in the dishes, say when you want to sit down, and the timeline counts back, keeping the oven to one dish at a time.

A dinner is planned from its end. Put in the dishes, say when you want to sit down, and the timeline counts back, keeping the oven to one dish at a time.
Oven dishes go in back to back in the order you list them; the last one listed comes out at serving time. Include resting time in a dish's minutes.
Write 6:00 pm, 6pm or 18:00.
Every dish ends at the meal time and starts its own minutes before it. The oven is the one thing two dishes cannot share, so the oven dishes are laid end to end, counting back from serving. The earliest start on the list is when the cooking begins; the chain that sets it is what project planners call the critical path, and everything else has some slack.
A real oven can hold two trays, and a resting roast frees it early; the timeline is a first draft to argue with, not an order. Dishes and minutes only: nothing here counts a calorie.
