Hidden Ranks

Each side hides an army. You never see a piece’s rank until two pieces meet, so you reason from how the other side moves: a piece that never moves might be a bomb or the flag; a piece that runs several squares is a scout. Capture the flag to win.

Rules in brief. Pieces move one square up, down or sideways; scouts move any distance in a straight line. When a piece moves onto an enemy piece, both are shown and the lower number is removed (equal numbers: both). The spy wins only when it attacks the 10. Bombs never move and remove any attacker except a miner. The flag never moves. No piece may move back and forth between the same two squares more than three times in a row. The computer opponent runs on your device and plays a beatable game; it is a practice partner, not a strong engine.
