Speedcubing
For the grown-up beside a child who loves speedcubing.
The child's own door is Speedcubing on Spark & Anvil.
There is no Whetstone tool or course for speedcubing yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.
Three numbers to notice
- Inspection: just under 15 seconds to look at the scrambled cube before the solve starts.
- An average of five: the fastest and slowest solves are dropped and the middle three are averaged.
- A 3×3 cube can be in 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 positions.
On the way home, ask: “Which solve today felt smoothest, and what were your hands doing?”
Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
Numbers checked against: World Cube Association Regulations (A3a1 inspection; 9f8 average of five); Rokicki, Kociemba, Davidson and Dethridge: God’s Number is 20 (the count of positions)
