Singing

For the grown-up beside a child who loves singing.

There is no Whetstone tool or course for singing yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.

The sideline card

Three numbers to notice

  1. The A that musicians tune to vibrates 440 times a second.
  2. An octave up doubles it: the next A is 880 times a second.
  3. The time signature: 3/4 has three beats in a bar, 4/4 has four.

On the way home, ask: “Which line of the song stayed in your head, and why?”

Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
