Running
For the grown-up beside a child who loves running.
The child's own door is Running on Spark & Anvil.
At the event
Three numbers to notice
- The split for each lap, and whether the laps got faster or slower.
- On a track bend the outside lanes start further ahead, because their curve is longer.
- Pace: the time for each mile or kilometre, which is how a long race is planned.
On the way home, ask: “Which lap felt fastest to you, and do you think it was?”
Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
The same idea at every age
- Ages 3–5Not made yet
- Ages 6–8Not made yet
- Ages 9–14Why the Outside Lanes Start Ahead
- Ages 15–18Predicting a Longer Race
Your child will meet this idea again at every age. The tools and courses here are the part for you.
