Rowing
For the grown-up beside a child who loves rowing.
The child's own door is Rowing on Spark & Anvil.
There is no Whetstone tool or course for rowing yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.
Three numbers to notice
- The race: 2,000 metres, straight, usually with six crews in six lanes.
- The boat’s code: an x means each rower has two oars, and no x means one oar each. A + means a cox steers; a − means no cox.
- An 8+ is eight rowers and a cox, and it is usually the fastest boat on the water.
On the way home, ask: “When in the race did the boats seem to speed up?”
Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
