Para sport
For the grown-up beside a child who loves para sport.
The child's own door is Para sport on Spark & Anvil.
There is no Whetstone tool or course for para sport yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.
Three numbers to notice
- The class beside a swimmer’s name, like S6. From S1 to S10, a lower number means the impairment affects the swim more.
- In class S11 every swimmer wears blacked-out goggles, so all race with no light at all, and a tapper touches them with a pole before the wall.
- The Paris 2024 Paralympics had 549 medal events in 22 sports.
On the way home, ask: “What did you notice about how the athletes started their race?”
Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
Numbers checked against: World Para Swimming: classification; IPC: Paris 2024 Paralympic sports
