Gymnastics

For the grown-up beside a child who loves gymnastics.

There is no Whetstone tool or course for gymnastics yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.

The sideline card

Three numbers to notice

  1. At top level, two scores: difficulty, which adds up the moves, and execution, which starts from 10 and comes down for each fault.
  2. The beam is 5 metres long, 10 cm wide and 1.25 metres off the floor.
  3. Women compete on four apparatus, men on six.

On the way home, ask: “Which move today did you want to see again?”

Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.

Numbers checked against: FIG: Women’s Artistic apparatus; FIG: Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Code of Points 2025–2028
