Gardening

For the grown-up beside a child who loves gardening.

There is no Whetstone tool or course for gardening yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.

The sideline card

Three numbers to notice

  1. The seed packet: how deep to plant, how far apart, and how many days until it sprouts.
  2. The days to harvest on the packet: how long until there is something to pick.
  3. The hardiness zone: each zone is 10 °F of the average coldest winter night, and a and b split it into halves of 5 °F.

On the way home, ask: “Which seed do you think will come up first?”

Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
