Cricket
For the grown-up beside a child who loves cricket.
The child's own door is Cricket on Spark & Anvil.
There is no Whetstone tool or course for cricket yet, so this page is the sideline card and your child's ladder.
Three numbers to notice
- An over is six legal balls (a wide or a no-ball is bowled again), from one end, then the other end takes a turn.
- The pitch in the Laws is 22 yards between the two sets of stumps.
- Reaching the rope is 4 runs; clearing it without a bounce is 6.
On the way home, ask: “Which ball today do you think the batter liked best?”
Ask because you are curious, and let any answer stand. Print this page for a half-page card.
Numbers checked against: MCC Laws of Cricket: Law 17, the over; MCC Laws of Cricket: Law 6, the pitch; MCC Laws of Cricket: Law 19, boundaries
